Is Nu Skin Still in Business? What the August Layoffs and Its Own Numbers Say About Affiliates (2026)

October 28, 2026

The short answer

Yes, Nu Skin is still in business. It is getting smaller around you, and nobody asked you first.

Here is the short version. In its own August 10 report, Nu Skin counted 26,998 Sales Leaders, 9% fewer than a year before. Customers fell 14%. Paid Affiliates fell 8%.

One week later, about 5% of its staff around the world were laid off. A company spokesman confirmed it to the Daily Herald.

Your customers still know you.

Numbers checked October 28, 2026.

Is Nu Skin still in business?

Quick answer: yes. By its own forecast, it will sell 9% to 14% less this year than last.

It is late. One lamp is on in your kitchen. The laptop is shut, the chair is pushed back, and half a glass of water sits there going warm.

You know the list. The leaders' call on Tuesday. The numbers you check before bed. The rank you have to qualify for again every month. The group chat asking about the layoffs. And that feeling that the plan was running you instead of the other way around.

In that August 10 report, the CEO, Ryan Napierski, said, "we are re-aligning our organizational resources." The goal, in his words, is "long-term value for our shareholders."

Shareholders are the people who own its stock. You were not in that sentence.

Twenty minutes, and you decide nothing on the call

Wondering what comes after the August cuts? It is a video call about my own business, Switch to America. Ask me anything. You sign nothing.

You can always say no.

And the count of people like you has been falling for two years.

How much smaller has Nu Skin gotten?

Quick answer: 11,594 fewer Sales Leaders in two years, by its own count. In the Americas, customers fell 24% in one year.

Here is the math, from Nu Skin's own reports. Same three months each year, April to June.

In 2024 it counted 38,592 Sales Leaders. In 2025 it counted 29,593. In 2026 it counted 26,998. That is about three in ten gone in two years.

If you build in the US, you are counted in the Americas. There, customers dropped from 240,477 to 183,757 in one year.

Every cell below is Nu Skin's own count.

April to June202420252026
Sales Leaders38,59229,59326,998
Paid Affiliates155,486130,799120,291

Customers in the Americas226,626240,477183,757
Sales for the three months$439.1 million$386.1 million$320.1 million

Look at the Americas row. It went up in 2025. Then it fell by almost a quarter, and one week after that report came the layoffs.

Were the August layoffs the first?

Quick answer: no. Local news reported Nu Skin layoffs in December 2023 and November 2024 too, and a company spokesperson confirmed both.

On Monday, August 17, 2026, Nu Skin laid off about 5% of its workforce around the world. A spokesman confirmed it to the Daily Herald, the paper in Provo, where Nu Skin is based.

In December 2023 it was about 5% of its US staff. A spokesman told KSL the cut was to "manage costs and align the business to drive future growth."

In November 2024 there was another round. The company did not say how many.

Align in 2023. Re-align in 2026. Same word, and both times the staff got smaller.

Now hold that next to one line from Nu Skin's own annual report, filed in February 2026. It says Nu Skin depends on its sales force "to generate virtually all of our revenue."

The sales force is you. You carry nearly all of it, and you still did not get a vote.

Who gets a vote when the pay plan changes?

Quick answer: Nu Skin does. Its own annual report says some past pay plan changes hurt its business.

In November 2024, Nu Skin announced "a revised business model." Then the pay plan changed. Its August 2026 report says, "we released enhancements to our sales compensation plan."

Its annual report is plain about pay plan changes too. It says some past ones "were not viewed positively by some segments of our sales force, and negatively impacted our business."

The same sentence says those changes "were successful in several markets." Fair enough. But Nu Skin makes the changes, and you get the notice.

And so the one part of this you can hold onto is the people who buy from you.

Isn't this just another pitch?

Quick answer: partly, and here is the part I will not dress up.

Nu Skin is not closing. By its own forecast, it still expects $1.28 billion to $1.35 billion in sales this year.

It is getting ready to open India in full, in the first half of 2027. That is a real company with real plans, and I will not pretend otherwise.

None of this is about the products either.

Now me. Switch to America could change its rules too. Any company can.

We are the manufacturer. No middlemen and no markup. No minimums, no maximums. You pay what a brand new shopper pays.

I will not hand you a number to expect. Nobody honest can.

What would I do first on Monday?

Quick answer: write down your customers by name, then get one answer from Nu Skin in writing.

You shut the laptop again and look out the window. You do not need every answer tonight. You need a few things done by Monday.

Write down the people who buy from you

Every customer you can think of. The one who reorders the same cream every month. Her sister. The friend from church who asked about your skin.

No re-aligning can re-align them. They know you.

Ask Nu Skin one question in writing

Does the August re-aligning change anything at my rank, and when will I be told? Send it by email. Keep the answer.

Read the next report yourself

The next one covers July to September. Find the line that says Sales Leaders. You will see for yourself which way it went.

Ask the next company the same things

Including me. Who writes the pay plan? Who owns the customer? What happens to her if I stop? Where is the income disclosure? If somebody dodges one, that is your answer.

Then talk it over with a friend who has nothing to sell you.

Shannon's Advice

Straight talk from Shannon

I do not call them grocery stores. They are poison centers meant to do you and your family harm. It is not just the brands who are doing the harm, it is the stores themselves. They allow these toxic products on their shelves. People are sick and dying. This is a very serious matter. How can we ever trust them again?

We can't trust them. That is where Switch to America comes in. We are a new supply chain, built on family values, trust and affordability.

You do not have to take my word for it. The proof is in my blog posts, the recalls, the lawsuits and the fines. Also, inside my Switch Circle private community, we talk about real solutions.

Women come to me exhausted, in pain, stressed out, and on a list of prescriptions they never wanted. I have spent over 20 years helping women get off prescription medications. I help families reclaim their health.

We cannot stop them. I have stopped expecting to. However, we can stop walking into their stores. We are linking arms and together taking our control back. Control of our health and our finances.

No court case or fine over the August cuts turned up as of October 28, 2026. Everything above is Nu Skin's own words or local news reports.

Who do you become?

Here is what I want for you, whether or not we ever speak.

It is a weekday afternoon and the aspens have gone gold. You walk the path slowly, hands free, your phone left on the kitchen counter. The next report can come out whenever it likes. Your customers already texted you this week.

You become the one whose customers know her name, whatever the next report says.

Bring the questions from Monday and ask me every one. Who writes the pay plan here, and who owns the customer? If it is not for you, I would rather find out on the call.

You can always say no, and there is no follow up if you do.

What else are women asking me about this?

Is Nu Skin going out of business?

No. By its own forecast, it expects $1.28 billion to $1.35 billion in sales in 2026. It also plans to open India in full in the first half of 2027. It is smaller, not closed.

How many people did Nu Skin lay off in August 2026?

About 5% of its workforce around the world, a spokesman told the Daily Herald. The cut came on Monday, August 17.

Are there fewer Nu Skin Sales Leaders now?

Yes. Nu Skin counted 26,998 for April to June 2026. Two years earlier it was 38,592. In the Americas, customers fell 24% in one year.

Do I have to quit Nu Skin to talk to you?

No. A call is just a call. Read your Nu Skin agreement on other businesses first. Asking questions is not disloyal.
