Is Poshmark Worth It Anymore? It Stops Covering Overweight Boxes October 26 (2026)

Is Poshmark Worth It Anymore? It Stops Covering Overweight Boxes October 26 (2026)

October 23, 2026

The short answer

Poshmark can move a cost onto you with 18 days' notice, and it just did.

Here is the short version. Starting October 26, 2026, a box over 5 pounds that ships on the standard label costs you. The upgrade is "deducted from your earnings." Poshmark's own words: "Poshmark has previously covered this cost."

On October 19, the $50 USPS hazmat fee became yours too, if USPS flags your box.

Is it still worth it? That depends on what you sell. But the rules are Poshmark's. Under its terms, even your buyer's contact details are for Poshmark business only.

That is the whole post. The rest is the proof.

What changes at Poshmark on October 26?

Quick answer: it stops paying for a box that weighs more than its label. That cost now comes out of your sale.

It is late, and the wool coat is finally in the box, taped shut on your office floor.

You printed the same prepaid label as always. Under a new Poshmark rule, that box can cost you.

Poshmark posted it on its blog on October 8. Starting October 26, "if you ship a package over 5 lbs without upgrading your label, the required upgrade cost will be deducted from your earnings."

The standard label covers up to 5 pounds. That counts the box, the padding and the tape. Poshmark itself says coats, boots, handbags and bundles are more likely to go over.

You can always say no.

If you upgrade first, you pay the upgrade, same as before. What changed is the box that goes out short. Poshmark used to eat that cost. Now you do.

Why is Poshmark charging me $10 or $15?

Quick answer: the box weighed more than its label. The bigger the gap, the bigger the charge.

Here is Poshmark's own list. From 5.01 to 10 pounds, the upgrade is $5. From 10.01 to 15 pounds, it is $10.

Ship more than 15 pounds on one label, and $15 comes out, up to 25 pounds. Past 25, you pay the "full USPS shipping cost."

It is not the first shipping change this year. In February, Poshmark cut its upgrade tiers from five to two, Value Added Resource reported on October 17.

The same report says Poshmark "has not explained why it is ending either protection." And so you get the bill, and no reason.

What is the $50 hazmat fee, and why is it yours now?

Quick answer: it is a USPS charge on a box that breaks its hazmat rules. Since October 19, Poshmark no longer covers it.

USPS started charging it on July 12, 2026, Poshmark says, and Poshmark "covered most of this fee for sellers."

On October 5, it gave you 14 days' notice. From October 19, "sellers will be responsible for the $50 fee if USPS flags their package."

USPS calls it a "HAZMAT noncompliance fee." It applies to commercial shipments "improperly declared, improperly labeled," or outside its rules some other way.

Poshmark says the most common cause "isn't the item inside." It is a reused box with an old hazmat mark on it. Watch for the small Limited Quantity diamond on boxes from beauty products, aerosols and cleaning supplies.

The items have USPS rules too, for perfume, nail polish and aerosols. Perfume with alcohol cannot go by air, only by ground.

Who does your buyer belong to?

Quick answer: on paper, her contact details are for Poshmark business only. It is written into Poshmark's terms.

You found her. You took the photos by the window at noon, and you answered her question about the hem.

Poshmark's terms cover "the contact information of any User of the Service (including Buyers)." You may not use it for anything but the service and "any transactions between Users."

And so the shopper who loved your closet stays a buyer in Poshmark's system. You may not write to her about anything but Poshmark.

The label is not yours either. Poshmark "reserves the right to discontinue providing Labels to any or all Users at any time and for any reason."

And the rules move. The same terms say, "We may update this Agreement at any time by posting updated Terms."

They have moved before. In October 2024, Poshmark split its fees between buyers and sellers. Weeks later it went back, on October 24, 2024. Its CEO, Manish Chandra, wrote, "The outcome of the change did not meet our expectations."

Here is what you see, next to Poshmark's own pages.

Every quote on the right is Poshmark's own wording. The buyer row is the one no label upgrade can fix.

Isn't this just another pitch?

Quick answer: partly, and here is the part I will not dress up.

Poshmark is not a monster. It kept its upgrade prices the same this season. In February, it cut the upgrade on a 10 pound box from $22.50 to $5, Value Added Resource reported.

In 2024 it took back a fee change and said sorry.

Keep your closet. Nobody is asking you to delete a thing.

Now me. Switch to America could change its rules too. Any company can.

Switch to America is the manufacturer. No middlemen and no markup. No minimums, no maximums.

A coat sells once. A shopper who likes her laundry soap buys it again. That reorder is the part I care about.

You pay what a brand new shopper pays. I will not hand you a number to expect. Nobody honest can.

What would I do first on Monday?

Quick answer: weigh the box, strip the old marks, then write down the people you know by name.

Weigh every box after you pack it

Put it on a kitchen scale with the tape on. Over 5 pounds? Upgrade before you ship, under Sales, then the order, then Upgrade Shipping Label.

Clean every box you reuse

Peel off or cover every old hazmat mark. Not sure? Poshmark's own advice is a new box or mailer.

Write down the people you know by name

Not your Poshmark buyers. Its terms keep their details for Poshmark business. I mean the friends who ask where you found that jacket. Your sister. The neighbor who borrows your good boots.

No company blog post can change those names. It is not a list to sell to. I do not teach that.

Ask the next company four questions

Including me. Who owns the customer list? Who can change the fees, and with how much notice? Who pays when the mail goes wrong? Where is the income disclosure?

If somebody dodges one, that is your answer.

Shannon's Advice

Straight talk from Shannon

I do not call them grocery stores. They are poison centers meant to do you and your family harm. It is not just the brands who are doing the harm, it is the stores themselves. They allow these toxic products on their shelves. People are sick and dying. This is a very serious matter. How can we ever trust them again?

We can't trust them. That is where Switch to America comes in. We are a new supply chain, built on family values, trust and affordability.

You do not have to take my word for it. The proof is in my blog posts, the recalls, the lawsuits and the fines. Also, inside my Switch Circle private community, we talk about real solutions.

Women come to me exhausted, in pain, stressed out, and on a list of prescriptions they never wanted. I have spent over 20 years helping women get off prescription medications. I help families reclaim their health.

We cannot stop them. I have stopped expecting to. However, we can stop walking into their stores. We are linking arms and together taking our control back. Control of our health and our finances.

Who do you become?

Here is what I want for you, whether or not we ever speak.

It is a Sunday in late October. You are walking under the sycamores, and the light has gone gold. Your hands are empty, no tape gun and no box. You walk slowly, because you know which part of your work is yours.

You weighed the box, and you asked the hard questions first.

You become the one who knows her people by name, whatever the label costs next month.

What else are women asking me about this?

Is Poshmark worth it anymore?

That depends on what you sell. A box up to 5 pounds ships on the standard label, same as before. A heavy box now costs you if the label is short.

Why is Poshmark charging me $10?

A box from 10.01 to 15 pounds went out on the standard label. From October 26, Poshmark takes the $10 upgrade out of your earnings.

Who pays the $50 hazmat fee on Poshmark now?

You do, from October 19, 2026, if USPS flags your box. The most common cause, Poshmark says, is a reused box with an old hazmat mark.

Do I have to quit Poshmark to do this?

No. Keep listing what you list. This sits beside it.
