How Many Hours a Week Does This Really Take? (2026)
The short answer
Most people give a second income about five to ten hours a week. That is the honest range.
But the hours were never really your question. Your question is whether they will be worth it this time.
You have given up your evenings before and gotten nothing back. So let's talk about that honestly.
What this guide answers
Twenty minutes, and you decide nothing on the call
I will show you exactly what the hours look like, on Zoom, in twenty minutes. Bring your real week and we will find where it fits. No slides, no pressure.
Book the 20 minute call You can always say no.So how many hours, really?
Quick answer: five to ten a week to start, and you pick when.
I will not tell you it takes no time. That is the lie that got you last time.
Most people who build a second income give it five to ten hours a week. Some give more. Almost nobody gives none.
Here is the honest part. It is real work. You talk to people. You follow up. You keep going on a slow week.
But it is your time, on your terms. Early, late, an hour here and there. Not a shift someone else sets.
Why does the old way eat the whole evening?
Quick answer: because the old work does not stack. Every hour starts over.
You know this evening. You sat down to work something out and looked up and it was gone.
The dinner went cold. The window went black. You gave it four hours and it gave you back one more day the same as the last.
That is the real problem with the old way. Not the number of hours. The fact that they do not add up to anything.
You trade an hour for a dollar. Next week you need a brand new hour for the next dollar. Nothing you did last month is still paying you.
What makes these hours different?
Quick answer: the hour keeps paying after you have stopped working it.
Here is the whole difference, and it is not about the clock.
When someone you helped keeps buying the things they run out of, you keep getting paid. You did the work once. It counts again next month.
So five hours this week is not five hours gone. It is five hours that can still be paying you a year from now.
The old evening subtracted. This one adds. That is why the same number of hours feels completely different.
And the truth about the time objection is simpler than it sounds. The right thing is what makes the time, because it slowly buys your evenings back.
| The question | The old hours | These hours |
|---|---|---|
| What do you trade? | An hour for one dollar | An hour for something that repeats |
| Does last month still pay you? | No, you start over | Yes, the reorders keep coming |
| Who sets the time? | Someone else's shift | You, in the gaps you already have |
| How many to start? | All of them, and still short | Five to ten a week |
| If you miss a week? | You lose the pay | The people you helped still buy |
Isn't this just another time sink?
Quick answer: it can be, if you go in expecting magic. So let me be plain.
Here is the part I know you are thinking. You have poured hours into a thing before and it drank them and gave you nothing.
So I will not pretend. This takes consistent hours. It builds slowly. You cannot tell in three weeks whether it is working.
And most people do not get rich at it. The FTC read 70 of these companies' own numbers. Most people made $1,000 or less a year. I would rather you hear that from me than find it out later.
Ask for the time, the risk and the real numbers in writing before you start. No rule makes every company hand them over. A good one will anyway. If someone will not, that is your answer.
So no, it is not magic, and I would not trust anyone who says it is. It is a few honest hours a week that finally stack.
How would I fit it in?
Quick answer: one honest hour most days, in the gaps you already have.
Start with the hour you already waste. Everybody has one. The scroll after dinner. The show you are not really watching.
You do not need a free evening. You need one honest hour, most days, pointed at the same thing.
I am not going to hand you a course to watch in your spare time. The screenshots and the "results not typical" lines are exactly what to walk away from.
What I do is simpler. There is a real product people already buy every month, and you earn when they reorder. No stock in your garage. One name on it, and a person who picks up the phone.
So the real question is not how many hours. It is whether you want the kind that add up. And no, it is not too late to start.
Shannon's Advice
Straight talk from ShannonI do not call them grocery stores. They are poison centers meant to do you and your family harm. It is not just the brands who are doing the harm, it is the stores themselves. They allow these toxic products on their shelves. People are sick and dying. This is a very serious matter. How can we ever trust them again?
We can't trust them. That is where Switch to America comes in. We are a new supply chain, built on family values, trust and affordability.
You do not have to take my word for it. The proof is in my blog posts, the recalls, the lawsuits and the fines. Also, inside my Switch Circle private community, we talk about real solutions.
Women come to me exhausted, in pain, stressed out, and on a list of prescriptions they never wanted. I have spent over 20 years helping women get off prescription medications. I help families reclaim their health.
We cannot stop them. I have stopped expecting to. However, we can stop walking into their stores. We are linking arms and together taking our control back. Control of our health and our finances.

Where to check me
- US Federal Trade Commission, September 2024 report on 70 income disclosures. The FTC read 70 of these companies' own numbers. Most people in them made $1,000 or less a year, and in 17 of the companies most people made nothing. This is the honest floor, and it is why anyone who promises easy money is not telling you the truth.
- The FTC's Business Opportunity Rule (Federal Register, 2011). A federal rule that makes some sellers give you a written disclosure before you pay: lawsuits, refund policy, past buyers, and earnings numbers if they make an earnings claim. It leaves out most multi-level companies.
- US Federal Trade Commission, business guidance on earnings claims. The regulator's own page on what a company may claim about money. It wants "reliable, empirical evidence, not subjective beliefs or personal anecdotes," and says a "results not typical" line is not enough.
- US Federal Trade Commission, on direct-selling businesses and pyramid schemes. Its plain guidance on the difference between earning from real product sales and earning mainly by recruiting others, and on the time and effort a real one takes.
Bring your real week and we will find the hours
Not a pitch. Twenty minutes on Zoom where I show you what the hours actually look like and where they would fit around your life. You leave knowing whether it is worth your evenings or not.
Book the 20 minute call If it is not a fit, I will say so and we will hang up.What else do people ask?
Can I do it around a full-time job? Yes. Most people start that way, in the gaps they already have. Five to ten hours a week does not need a free evening, just a steady one.
Do the hours ever go down? The starting hours build the part that keeps paying. As the reorders stack, the same income takes less new time. That is the whole point of an hour that adds up.
What if I miss a week? Nothing falls over. The people you already helped keep buying what they run out of. That is the difference from a job, where a missed shift is a missed paycheck.
Is there a fast version? No, and I would not trust one. Anything that promises money this month is selling you a feeling, not a business.
Who you become
You become the woman whose evenings add up to something.
Not because she found more hours. Because she stopped spending them on work that starts over every week.
One honest hour, most days, pointed at a thing that keeps paying. That is the whole change.
The evening you give it now is how you buy the evenings back later.
